On the Dyno

The new version of the Acura NSX came sporting over 500 horsepower. The R35 came with great factory power and tons of power potential. What did the new Supra come with? 

We’re here to find out. 

We’ve had the 2020 Supra in the shop a few times already, but just for scanning and product test fits. We have yet to run it on our in-house Dynojet, but to be frank with you, we’re not setting our hopes too high. We're holding our judgement until we see for ourselves.

Aesthetics wise, the car is a lot more impressive in person than in the press photos we’d seen previously. The body lines don’t necessarily resemble the Mk4 at all, but have a nice, yet bold flow to them that everyone around the office here seems to actually really like. Once you open the door and start digging a little deeper, is when the BMW emerges. The view from the driver’s seat closely resembles that of a new gen BMW Z -iDrive and all.

While we don’t feel the GR Supra pays enough respect to the classic, we still totally dig it and can’t wait to see what is accomplishes once covered in our parts. Whatever numbers it puts down on the dyno, we’re ready to improve them.

A few weeks after securing our very own Renaissance Red 2.0 2020 and enjoying it around the streets of SoCal, it finally got some time on the dyno. 

Our baseline numbers came in at 332 horsepower and 384 lbs. x ft. of torque. Rated at 335 horsepower and 365 lbs. x ft. of torque from the factory, our baseline run proved the Supra to be a bit more powerful to the wheels than Toyota has advertised. 

...We're impressed.
